Our traditional range of potjie pots are not coated on the inside and have a protective layer of vegetable oil to prevent rusting and help with curing during storage.
Wash out thoroughly with hot water and wipe dry.
Coat the inside with cooking oil and heat till oil begins to smoke. Using a paper towel wipe inside until towel wipes clean. The pot is now ready for use.
The more you use it the better it becomes.
After each use wash the pot with hot water and lemon juice (if possible avoid using soap or detergent). Wipe dry or dry over heat.
Coat inside with cooking oil and store with paper towel inside.

You can't go wrong with a potjie. Slow cooking meat with your favorite vegetables, is a wonderful way to spend a day, entertaining your friends.
You can be creative and innovative, cooking bread, or your favorite stew. As well as being used on an outdoor fire, you can also place over a gas stove. One of my best buys.
